INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Each year, over 100,000 students from around the world choose to study in Canada. Foreign students bring a rich culture to our schools and their knowledge and skills are an asset to our classrooms.

Study Permits and Temporary Resident Visas

If you plan to take a course or program that lasts longer than six months, you will require a study permit. For courses that last 6 months or less, you do not need a permit, but you must complete your course or program within the period authorized for your stay in Canada.

Before you come to Canada, it’s a good idea to apply for a study permit even if you don’t need one. If you decide to continue your studies while you’re in Canada but don’t have a permit, you’ll have to apply at a Canadian visa office outside Canada.

Depending on your citizenship, you may also require a temporary resident visa.

For more information on required documents, please check the Government of Canada’s Citizen and Immigration website.

Tuition and Fees

The application fee for all international students is non-refundable. Total tuition cost and all applicable fees must be paid in full prior to program starting or outlined in a detailed payment plan.

Payment Plan Options

A student who requires a payment plan will provide a payment plan letter. Students are advised that Q College will require a 30% deposit of all fees and tuitions within the outlined dates on the payment plan. All  final payment is made 30 days prior to the program end date.

Housing Information

Once an international student decides to come to Vancouver or Victoria to study at Q College, the next step is finding the right accommodation. For starters, it would be great to connect first with Q College administrative staff, which will guide him/her to the on-campus bulletin board for housing options in their desired locations.

International students can choose to rent an apartment – the average rent may vary depending on the location. Another popular option is sharing a rented apartment with fellow students from the same country. It is also a good idea to research the average house rent in Vancouver and Victoria so students could find the one that suits their budget.

Before arriving in Canada, international students can start searching online for the types of housing and cost of rentals in Vancouver and Victoria areas.

Below are some website links that you can use to begin your search for housing. Note: Q College is not responsible for the content of the following sites; these are provided for information purposes only.

Multicultural information

Vancouver and Victoria are multicultural cities. Located in British Columbia, the most ethnically diverse province in Canada, they are a mix of different ethnicities, religions and cultural groups from all over the world and Canada’s indigenous communities. Vancouver and Victoria both value this diversity and nurture inclusiveness and understanding of various cultures.

International students will get the opportunity to enjoy a multicultural environment when they study at any campus of Q College.
